There are several software solutions to program the Kinetis Freescale developer boards like the KL25Z, KL46Z, K64F, and others. The most common way is to use Freescale’s Codewarrior development tool. A second way and easier one is to use ARM mbed online compiler, which has two major advantages: First its on-line so you don’t need to install any software for developing your prototypes, and second it is simple and easy to program, that takes less time to startup because mbed has already developed some libraries to make your programming easy.

So in order to use mbed platform we need (in some cases) upgrade the firmware of our board, so it can be recorgnized by our computer as a pen drive so we can “drop” our comiled file into it to be programed. I’m gonna explain in more detail later, so go to Update Firmware to continue.
